BLASTSHIELD^™ PROTECTIVE SHADING SYSTEM

HOW DOES BLASTSHIELD WORK?

BlastShield is a patented interior fixed window treatment.  It looks like a conventional solar screen, yet it is woven with high tensile strength yarns and engineered to be permanently attached to a structural component above and below the frame of the window.  In a blast or catastrophic event, BlastShield works like a glove to capture the glass fragments and other projectiles within the window area while dissipating the blast load.  BlastShield is available as a taut system and as a dynamic tension system.  The taut system repels glass back in the direction of the blast.  The dynamic tension system deploys additional fabric to retain the glass.


WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BLASTSHIELD?

This patented "catch system" uses PhiferShield® woven fabric as a fixed window treatment. PhiferShield utilizes high-strength, impact-resistant Spectra® yarn.  Spectra is, pound-for-pound, 10 times stronger than steel.  The yarn is coated to protect it from UV degradation.  BlastShield also functions as a solar screen, affording the occupant additional benefits commonly associated with solar shading.
